Ya Shi Xiang Dancong Oolong Tea
Ya Shi Xiang Dancong Oolong Tea, also known as “Duck Shit Aroma” tea (a famously ironic name), is a prized variety from Fenghuang Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong. Despite its unusual name, this tea is celebrated for its exceptionally elegant fragrance and high mountain character.
Crafted from single-variety Phoenix Dancong tea trees, this oolong undergoes a semi-fermentation process that preserves both the freshness of green tea and the depth of darker oolongs. The dried leaves are slightly curled, thick, and dark brown with a natural lustre, showcasing the strength and maturity of their raw material.
Upon brewing, the tea reveals a sharp, long-lasting floral aroma, often compared to orchids or gardenia. The liquor is orange-yellow, clear, and bright, with a refreshing taste and a lingering sweet aftertaste. The signature “mountain aroma” (shan yun) combined with delicate floral-honey notes, makes Ya Shi Xiang distinct among Dancong oolongs.
Highly resistant to brewing, this tea performs beautifully through multiple infusions, gradually revealing deeper layers of flavour.
