A-Grade Lapsang Souchong Tea (Zhengshan Xiaozhong)
A-Grade Lapsang Souchong, also known as Zhengshan Xiaozhong, comes from the core producing region of the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian, the birthplace of authentic Lapsang Souchong.
It is important to stress that this is not the smoked version. This is a very high-quality traditional Lapsang Souchong. Unlike the heavily smoky versions often exported historically, this high-grade floral style emphasises natural sweetness and aromatic purity.
The dry tea leaves display a plump, well-twisted shape with a dark, glossy colour, revealing expert craftsmanship. When gently smelled, one can detect a delicate but persistent floral note, accompanied by a sweet ripe fruit fragrance, often compared to honeyed lychee or sun-dried longan. The aroma is not overly strong, but refined and layered, gradually unfolding and inviting the tea drinker to savour, a true sign of premium quality Zhengshan Xiaozhong.
Upon steeping, the tea opens with refreshing, uplifting energy, then deepens into a smooth, mellow cup with a long-lasting sweetness. It offers a refined alternative to smoky Lapsang, showcasing the original essence of traditional Wuyi black tea, characterised by floral, fruity, and lightly woody undertones.
