Premium Huoshan Huang Da Cha – Yellow Tea
Huoshan Huang Da Cha Yellow Tea is a distinctive and rare yellow tea from the historic tea region of Huo Shan, Anhui Province, a tea tradition dating back centuries.
Unlike delicate yellow teas made from buds, Huangya Yellow Tea is produced using larger leaves (and sometimes stems), giving the tea a robust, earthy character that is enriched through traditional “sealed-yellowing” processing.
Due to the way that this tea is picked, it does contain more stem than other teas. At the same time, tea stems contribute to the tea's unique quality, aroma, and taste. During processing, they also increase porosity, which facilitates fermentation and maintains the structure. The aromatic substances in the stems themselves contribute to the formation of special aromas.
The post-processing includes a gentle oxidation step followed by light roasting or “baked” finishing, which imparts a warm, roasted aroma with notes of malt, nuts, and roasted grains. Some drinkers compare its aroma and flavour depth to roasted coffee or dark cocoa, which has earned it the nickname “the coffee of teas.”
When brewed, Huoshan Huang Da Cha Yellow Tea yields a clear golden-yellow liquor with a deep, mellow, smooth taste, gently sweet and nutty, with subtle vegetal or mineral undertones. Its body is fuller and grounded compared with lighter yellow or green teas, making it a unique bridge between green tea’s freshness and black tea’s depth.

Why Huoshan Huang Da Cha Yellow Tea is so special

- Made from large leaves & stems, giving more body, depth, and a warming character, richer than typical leaf-bud teas.
- Unique roasted-malt/nutty aroma and flavour that appeals to those who like darker teas, often described as “coffee-like tea.”
- Pleasant balance, smooth, mellow, and low-bitterness, with a full mouthfeel and warming finish
Storage Recommendations
Store in a cool, dry place away from strong odours, moisture, and direct sunlight. Use an airtight container if possible. Because Huoshan Huang Da Cha is already processed and roasted, it is relatively stable, but good storage preserves its aroma and flavour best.
