Huoshan Huangya – Superfine Yellow Tea
Huoshan Huangya is one of China’s most exquisite and rare classical teas. Grown in the misty hills of Huo Shan (Mount Huo), the tea’s tender spring buds are carefully hand-picked and processed using the traditional “Men Huang” (sealing yellow) method, a subtle technique that distinguishes yellow tea from ordinary green teas.
During processing, after the leaves are heated, they are gently wrapped and left to undergo slow, controlled maturation before final drying. This unique method softens harsh grassy tones and develops a delicate, mellow sweetness, smooth texture, and gentle golden liquor.
The finished dry leaves are slender and tipped with fine silvery or yellowish down, indicating quality and careful selection. When brewed, Huoshan Huangya produces a light, clear yellow-green liquor with a soft floral and nutty aroma, and a sweet-savoury flavour profile reminiscent of chestnut, corn sweetness, and gentle vegetal notes.
Mild in tannin and low in bitterness, this tea is perfect for those who appreciate elegance, subtlety, and refined taste, an ideal morning or afternoon drink, or a gentle alternative to stronger teas.

Brewing Guide
| Measure | Water | Temperature | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2–3 g (1 tsp) per 200 ml | Fresh spring-filtered | 75–85 °C (167–185 °F) | 2–3 mins (first infusion) |
| Re-steeps | Same temperature | Add 30–45 sec per brew | Up to 2–3 infusions |
Tip: Use a lower water temperature than green tea to preserve the delicate sweetness; glass or light porcelain teaware works beautifully to appreciate the clarity and colour of the liquor.

Storage Recommendations
Store in a cool, dry place away from strong odours and moisture. Seal tightly after opening. Because of its delicate profile, avoid strong-smelling food or spices nearby to preserve tea’s subtle aroma and flavour.
